On The Road With BAFTA Kids and Children's Mental Health Charity Place2Be

At the end of May, BAFTA embarked on its second year of BAFTA Kids Roadshows with children’s mental health charity Place2Be, visiting a primary school in Croydon. With the Roadshow planning to appear at a further 10 locations across the UK this year, we returned to Rock Ferry School in the Wirral to find out how the Roadshow’s visit in 2017 has made a lasting impact on children and staff alike.

In Conversation with Breakthrough Brit Anna Hollinrake

In early July, BAFTA will be sponsoring the Changemakers strand at the Children’s Media Conference (CMC), the only UK event for those involved in developing, producing and distributing content to children on all platforms. Two of the recipients of our learning and new talent initiatives will also be representing BAFTA: children’s screenwriter Javid Rezai, who was one of the finalists of the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Competition for YA and Children, and games artist Anna Hollinrake, a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit. On the eve of the Conference, we spoke to the latter about her big break, becoming a Breakthrough Brit and maintaining mental wellbeing in the workplace – a topic close to her heart, which she will be addressing at CMC.

Big Schools Day at Alexandra Palace with BAFTA Kids

BAFTA Kids’ biggest ever event returned to Alexandra Palace for its second outing this summer, enthusing the young crowd about such culturally enriching topics as the history of children’s television, the centenary of female suffrage and the creation of their favourite children’s shows. There was also the addition of a little bit of Paddington-inspired calypso music and dance for good measure...

As part of Children’s Mental Health Week 2018, BAFTA worked alongside its partner, Place2Be, to reach as many young people as possible with this year’s message: that it’s great #BeingOurselves. We asked BAFTA winners to share their own experiences in learning how to celebrate their uniqueness.
