On Thursday, June 4, 2026, BAFTA announced the 44 projects longlisted for the 2026 BAFTA Student Awards with e.l.f. Cosmetics. These Awards are a celebration of the next generation of talented and innovative storytellers from across the globe and supports BAFTA’s global mission to celebrate excellence and inspire the future of film, games, and television.
This year’s BAFTA Student Awards welcomed submissions from over 600 universities globally in the film, games and immersive categories. A review group of over 300 global BAFTA members selected the 44 titles moving ahead to the next round of the program.
This year’s longlist features the first-ever inclusion of projects from the Film and Television Institute of India, the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, the University of Edinburgh, and Villanova University. In addition to these new entries, women comprise 60% of the students recognized on the longlist.
This year’s longlist will be reviewed by juries made up of BAFTA members to determine the 15 finalist nominations, three per category, for Animation, Documentary, Live Action, Games, and Immersive. The finalists for these categories will be announced on Monday, June 22, 2026.
BAFTA has also announced that e.l.f. Cosmetics has become the official headline partner of the BAFTA Student Awards as part of both organizations’ continued efforts to champion and support emerging talent in film and games by working to remove barriers to opportunity so all talented people feel empowered to enter the screen arts.
As the first beauty brand to partner with the Student Awards, e.l.f. Cosmetics will be supporting a lineup of programming that includes film and game studio visits, workshops with industry professionals, and networking events with BAFTA members all in the lead up to the final ceremony. e.l.f. will leverage its gaming channels such as Twitch and Discord for these emerging creators to share their stories with a larger audience. This partnership will also introduce the first ever livestream of the awards ceremony on Friday, July 17 on the e.l.f. You Twitch channel.
Additionally, e.l.f. will provide a grant for emerging female developers to pursue their dreams, knowing that more female developers will lead to better, more inclusive gaming experiences for everyone. More details around the creative brief and who is eligible to apply will be announced Monday, June 22.
Patrick O’Keefe, Chief Integrated Marketing Officer, e.l.f. Beauty, said:“We’re here to lift emerging creators, especially women in film and gaming, with real access, mentorship and momentum. With BAFTA, we’re launching an industry‑first summit to connect talent with leaders and opportunity, and we’re introducing the first-ever livestream of the ceremony on our e.l.f. You Twitch channel to open up access to every eye, lip and face. More voices create a stronger community and that’s the future we’re here to champion.”
Courtney LaBarge Bell, executive director of BAFTA North America, said: “We are thrilled to welcome e.l.f. Cosmetics as the headline partner of the BAFTA Student Awards. Their support will amplify the mission of the Student Awards to champion and support the next generation of talented and innovative storytellers from across the globe by providing student film and game makers to showcase their work and creating a more inclusive industry.“
