Sally’s breakthrough project is the game Old Skies.
It’s the dream of every performer to take centre stage, so for voice actor Sally Beaumont playing main protagonist Fia Quinn in adventure game Old Skies (2025) was the opportunity of a lifetime. It was also a major commitment, recording lines off-and-on for more than three years. Sally proved instrumental in the game’s creation, suggesting to designer Dave Gilbert he should make a jam game to wash away the stresses of his previous successful launch, Unavowed. When that game ultimately turned into Old Skies, Sally was on hand, contributing to the writing as well as voicing its lead.
Industry recognition has been hard to come by, with Sally providing the voices of around 100, mostly supporting, characters in more than 60 games in a career spanning a decade. She describes Fia as the most nuanced character she’s played since starring as the titular lead in her University of Exeter’s staging of Hamlet. Recent work includes Earth Must Die (releasing 2026) and The Séance of Blake Manor (2025) and she’s currently recording for upcoming games Uncle Lee’s Cookbook: Five Recipes for Disaster and Heartspell: Horizon Academy.
In their own words…
“It does feel like an arrival that’s been a long time coming. I’ve had a lot of smaller roles that show off one little element of what I can do, but a character like Fia has been rarer. I grew a lot and became braver as a performer. I really got to dig deep, which some of the smaller roles don’t allow you to do…. The exciting thing for me about BAFTA Breakthrough is all of the creative things that could come of it.”
