Jonathan Asser is a writer whose debut feature Starred Up starring Jack O’Connell was a hit with critics and audiences alike. The film received eight nominations at the British Independent Film Awards in 2013, winning Ben Mendelsohn the Best Supporting Actor honour. Jonathan won the Best British Newcomer award at the 2013 BFI London Film Festival and two British Academy Scotland Awards. He is working on several films and television series, and is being mentored by fellow Breakthrough Brit alumnus Dominic Mitchell (creator of In the Flesh).
