Alice Rohrwacher: Screenwriters’ Lecture

Anooya Swamy is an Indian filmmaker born and raised in Bangalore, India and is awarded the BBC America Diversity Scholarship. Anooya is currently pursuing her MFA in Film & TV Production at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She is an Ang Lee Scholar and recipient of the Maurice Kanbar and Matthew Myers Memorial Scholarships. Before Tisch, she launched PANDU, a media company where her work spans narrative and experimental films, documentaries, commercials, and marketing visuals.
As a writer-director, she navigates complex cultural identities, weaving personal and political narratives with a lens of magic. She is committed to telling stories of play, joy and resilience of Dalits, women and people of color around the world. She recently premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival as a producer for ‘Jooyein’ and is currently producing her first feature film slated in India, set for release in 2026.
