A Kiwi actor who made his screen debut in a ground-breaking piece of New Zealand cinema, Bayler played the lead role in Broken Barrier (1952) which depicted an interracial relationship. He also regularly collaborated with the members of Monty Python, memorably starring as Gregory in Life of Brian (1979) and appearing in Time Bandits (1981) and Brazil (1985).
