A British comedic actor who began his career on the stage in a touring troupe, Sherwin broke into television playing foils in a series of farces. He went on to appear in a laundry list of classic British sitcoms including Dad’s Army (1969-1972), Are You Being Served? (1974-1976) and Fawlty Towers (1979).
