A long serving industry executive, Brooks served as chairman of the Independent Film Distributors Association and held similar posts with Glenbuck Films, Connoisseur Films and the British Federation of Film Societies. A long-time BFI governor, he was also on the board of the committee that oversaw the establishment of MOMI.
