A British production designer whose career began predominantly in television, Garwood got his big screen break as the art director of Time Bandits (1981). He received three Oscar nominations for Brazil (1985), Glory (1989) and Hook (1991), won a BAFTA for the former, and received an Emmy nomination for The Life and Death of Peter Sellers (2004).
