A British director and producer best known for the nine films in the ‘Up’ documentary series (1964-2019) which won two BAFTAs from four nominations, Apted also won for Kisses at Fifty (1973) and was nominated for P’tang, Yang, Kipperbang (1982). His other credits included Coal Miner’s Daughter (1980), Gorillas in the Mist (1988) and The World is not Enough (1999).
