Had he only been responsible for co-creating the groundbreaking, twice weekly BBC soap Compact (1962-65), Ling's place in British television history would have been assured. But it is Crossroads (1964 - 88) that stands as his most enduring screenwriting legacy. Other writing credits include the popular BBC radio series Waggoner's Walk.
