A British actor best known for his role as DCS Michael Kernan in Prime Suspect (1991-1995), Benfield’s character was the boss of Helen Mirren’s Jane Tennison in the first six instalments of the show. His film credits included In the Name of the Father (1993), Cassandra’s Dream (2007) and Speed Racer (2008).
