A British actress who found fame starring as family matriarch Bella in the BBC drama When the Boat Comes In (1976-1977), Heywood enjoyed short soap stints on Emmerdale Farm (1978), Coronation Street (1982-1983), Family Affairs (1997) and Brookside (2000). Her most notable big screen role came as the titular dancer’s grandma in Billy Elliot (2000).
