Iwao Takamoto

28 April 1925 to 8 January 2007

An animator who honed his skills at Disney, Takamoto came into his own when he joined Hanna-Barbera in the early 1960s. Among his personal creations were the characters of Penelope Pitstop, Dick Dastardly and his snickering hound Muttley, and most famously Scooby-Doo. He also co-directed the animation Charlotte's Web (1973).
