A respected current affairs reporter, Lomax became a BBC trainee in 1961 and went on to contribute defining reports for 24 Hours, Tonight, Nationwide, Newsnight and Panorama. He famously interviewed Idi Amin and a representative of the group who claimed responsibility for the murder of Airey Neave.
