Known to American audiences for his role in the daytime soap One Life To Live (1988-2008), Carey’s familiarity to British audiences will be from his film work. He played Doris Day’s reluctant object of desire in Calamity Jane (1953), and also starred in John Ford’s seaborne comedy-drama Mister Roberts (1955).
