A British television executive and producer, who co-founded BAFTA’s Los Angeles branch (now part of BAFTA North America) in 1987. Mark Shelmerdine started his screen career as financial director of the Taylor Clark group, which included the dormant London Films production company. He bought out the studio and started making new productions based on London Films’ back catalogue, including costume dramas Poldark (1975-1977) and I, Claudius (1976). As executive producer, his credits also included The Scarlet Pimpernel (1982), The Country Girls (1983), The Twilight Zone reboot (1988-1989) and Addicted (2010).
