A British writer, artist and designer, who won a BAFTA for Graphics for Tutti Frutti (1987), a six-part BBC comedy-drama that he also wrote. John Byrne’s other writing credits included mini-series Your Cheatin’ Heart (1990); one-shot plays for Play for Today (1979), The Play on One (1988) and Screenplay (1993); comedy sketches for Scotch & Wry (1986); and the feature-length The Slab Boys (1997), which he also directed.
