A British stage and screen actor and a founder member of the English Stage Company at the Royal Court, Davenport was frequently cast as mustachioed villains, high-ranking soldiers and aristocrats. He amassed over 125 screen credits including A Man For All Seasons (1966) and the role of Lord Birkenhead in Chariots of Fire (1981).
