Omi Zola Gupta

Omi Zola Gupta is a writer and director born in London and raised in New Delhi. His first project as a writer, Child of Empire, a VR docu-fiction, premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2022. His debut short film, Birdsong, screened at SXSW, Sundance London, Palm Springs ShortsFest, where it won Special Mention: Best Documentary Short, and was shortlisted for the Grierson Award. It has since been acquired by The Guardian.  

Omi is a Sundance Institute x Adobe Ignite Fellow 2023 and in his first year at NYU Tisch's Graduate Film program. His work has toured institutes such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, British Film Institute, and Forum des Images.  

Omi is interested in a humanist cinema in which multiple belongings are offered a chance to exist and contend.
