Lily Blunsom-Washbrook | BAFTA Scholarship

Lily is awarded the BAFTA Scholarship to put towards living expenses whilst studying for a BA in Acting at Royal Conservatoire Scotland. Lily is mentored by Suranne Jones.

It is just so wonderful and freeing to think that this year I will be able to just fully focus and immerse myself in my training without the financial worries that have previously overtaken so much.

Lily was born and raised in Warwickshire where she first found her love of performance through youth theatres such as Playbox: The Dream Factory and the Pauline Quirke Academy. She moved to London when she was 16 in pursuit of a career in acting. Here, she managed to gain professional acting work for companies such as the BBC and gained invaluable training from institutions such as RADA, the Arts Educational School, the Television workshop and an array of youth theatres. This was all thanks to the available funding and scholarships available to her at the time as well as working three jobs alongside acting. She also loves to write her own work including plays, poetry and screenplays.

Lily said: "I cannot put into words how grateful I am to BAFTA for this immense opportunity. I am so full of gratitude for the potential insight and knowledge that having a mentor will help me gain. It is just so wonderful and freeing to think that this year I will be able to just fully focus and immerse myself in my training without the financial worries that have previously overtaken so much. I feel so blessed and so lucky, this truly will make the most life-changing difference. A huge and heartfelt thank-you!"
