THIRD YEAR – LOS ANGELES

Nicole Vanden Broeck is a French-Mexican filmmaker. She received the FONCA-CONACYT Scholarship to pursue an MFA in Directing at the AFI Conservatory. Her thesis film ELLE (2020) premiered at the Academy-Qualifying Rhode Island International Film Festival and won the Grand Prize Marlyn Mason Award for new voices, new perspectives by women in film. Her directorial work has screened at 60+ festivals including AFI Fest, Curtas Vila do Conde, Out On Film, Women in Film & Television, among others.

Prior to her move to LA, Nicole co-founded the production company 6pm Films in Mexico City, where she directed multiple projects. Her documentary WITHIN TIME (2017) won the ECOFILM Festival Grand Prize and the Hola Mexico Film Festival Cinelatino Audience Award. She is featured in the LatinX Directors list and has been selected twice for the TFT Program presented by HBO and the HFPA. Nicole is currently developing her narrative feature debut with the support of Cine Qua Non Lab.
