SECOND YEAR

Andrea Altamirano is from Koreatown Los Angeles, and is studying at Los Angeles City College where she is pursuing a Cinema and Film major.

“Being accepted into this program is a significant deal to me because I want to better my craft and I believe this mentorship will help me achieve that.”

Andrea’s dream is to become a Director and Cinematographer. She has already directed her first short documentary titled “This Is Us Natives,” which also earned her a scholarship. Creating this short film helped Andrea realize the importance of using your voice when you have a platform.  

“Not only is a director in charge of making sure a scene is executed well and correctly, but they also take a vision, concept, or script, if you will, and bring it to life.”

Andrea looks up to the works of Wes Anderson and Stanley Kubrick due to their unique style of filmmaking. She admires how they make films they want to make rather than for audiences.
