Tristram Powell

A British director, who was nominated for a BAFTA for Screen Two story East of Ipswich (1987), as well as a BAFTA Cymru award for The Old Devils (1992). Tristram Powell started directing documentaries for Omnibus and Arena in the 1970s-1980s, before making his first drama No Country for Old Men (1981). He went on to direct five Screen Two stories (1987-1993) and various Alan Bennett written productions, including Talking Heads 1 and 2 (1988, 1998) and Telling Tales (2000). Other notable television work included The Long Roads (1993), Tears Before Bedtime (1995), Sparkling Cyanide (2003) and Falling (2005), as well as the feature film American Friends (1991).
