An American actress, who was a Broadway and West End legend for her decades-long work in musicals. Chita Rivera was particularly known for bringing to life the character of Anita for the first time when West Side Story debuted in 1957. Her screen appearances were limited, with a recurring role in The New Dick Van Dyke Show (1973-1974) and supporting parts in the films Sweet Charity (1969) and Chicago (2002) among her most notable.
