A British playwright who was best known for his 1967 work A Day in the Life of Joe Egg, Nichols’ play was adapted into a television movie starring Eddie Izzard in 2002. His screen credits included Catch Us If You Can (1965), Georgy Girl (1966) and en episode of Inspector Morse (1991) entitled Greeks Bearing Gifts.
