An American actor, who is best known for creating popular 1980s’ comic persona Pee-wee Herman. Paul Reubens first played the character in the film Pee-wee’s Big Adventure (1985), reprising him in the standalone sequels Big Top Pee-wee (1988) and Pee-wee’s Big Holiday (2016), and then children’s television series Pee-wee’s Playhouse (1986-1990), which earned him two Daytime Emmys and 15 nominations over its five-season run. He did star in other films outside of the Pee-wee persona, including Batman Returns, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (both 1992), Dunston Checks In, Matilda (both 1996), Mystery Men (1999) and Blow (2001). He also did a lot of voice acting for various animated television series and films, as well as games.
