An American actress, who will be forever remembered as chilling antagonist Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1976), which won her both a BAFTA and an Academy Award. Other film roles included Thieves Like Us (1974), Russian Roulette (1975), The Lady in Red (1979), Firestarter (1984), Blue Steel (1990), The Player (1992), Cruel Intentions (1999) and A Perfect Man (2013). She featured in numerous TV series over the years, with memorable roles including Peg Gallagher in the US version of Shameless (2011-2012) and Kai Winn in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993-1999).
