A British actor, who many will picture as a suave lothario type in four Carry On... films (Nurse, 1958; Teacher, 1959; Constable, 1960; Columbus, 1992) and three Doctor movies (...in Love, 1960; ...in Clover, 1966; and ...in Trouble, 1970). He also had prominent roles in Les Girls (1957), Out of Africa (1985), Empire of the Sun (1987), Scandal (1989) and Saving Grace (2000), and on television Chancer (1990-1991) and The House of Windsor (1994), in particular.
