A British actor, who was best known for his part in Coronation Street (1994-2006), playing the character of Fred Elliott in almost 1,000 episodes. John Savident’s screen career spanned six decades across both film and television. His film credits included Waterloo (1970), A Clockwork Orange (1971), Gandhi (1982), Little Dorrit (1987) and The Remains of the Day (1993). His varied television work included the likes of The Avengers (1968), Doomwatch (1970-1971), Tightrope (1974), 1990 (1977), Yes, Minister (1980), David Copperfield (1986), Middlemarch (1994), Sharpe (1996) and Hotel Babylon (2009).
