A British born artist who began his career at Gaumont British Animation, Stokes worked as an animation director on The Beatles’ third feature film Yellow Submarine (1968). He had previously created animated titles for Magical Mystery Tour (1967) and went on to direct episodes of Bob Godfrey’s series Roobarb (1974).
