A German actor, who found international fame co-starring in a series of high profile British and American films following a decade working in German cinema. The first of these was The One That Got Away (1957), followed by Bachelor of Hearts (1958) and Blind Date (1959), all made by the UK’s Rank Organisation. Films such as Hatari! (1962), The Flight of the Phoenix (1965), Santa Vittoria (1969), Barry Lyndon (1975), A Bridge Too Far (1977) and The Wild Geese (1978) followed.
