An American actor, who worked across both film and television. For many, he will be remembered for his role as Al in time-travelling science fiction series Quantum Leap (1989-1993), having starred in 97 episodes of the show and earning four Emmy nominations for the role. But Stockwell’s career was varied, with credits including Anchors Aweigh (1945), Compulsion (1959), Sons and Lovers (1960), Paris, Texas, Dune (both 1984), Blue Velvet (1986) and Married to the Mob (1988), the latter earning him an Oscar nomination. Other small screen work included The Tony Danza Show (1997-1998), JAG (2002-2004) and the rebooted Battlestar Galactica (2006-2009).
