David Gulpilil

An Australian actor, dancer, singer and artist, who was a pioneer for indigenous performers. A member of the Mandhalpingu clan of the Yolŋu people, Gulpilil made his big screen debut in the international hit, Walkabout (1977). He would then feature prominently in numerous Australian productions, including Mad Dog Morgan (1976), The Last Wave (1977), Crocodile Dundee (1986), Rabbit-Proof Fence (2002), The Proposition (2005) and Australia (2008). His most recent film project, which he also produced, was a biographical documentary, My Name is Gulpilil (2021).
