A British director and producer, who was highly respected for his work on high profile live events. Bruce Gowers started out in the UK and after directing a series of popular music promos, including Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, he moved to the US, where he worked on such Awards ceremonies as the Emmys, the MTV Movie Awards, the People’s Choice Awards and the Teen Choice Awards. His live concert direction included Woodstock ‘94 (1995), Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration (2001) and Live Earth (2007), and specials for such legendary acts as The Rolling Stones and Prince. His comedy specials included such acts as Billy Crystal, Robin Williams, Eddie Murphy and Jerry Seinfeld. In 2009, he won an Emmy for his work on American Idol (2002-2011), having been nominated six times previously. He was nominated for a BAFTA in 1974 for Aquarius: Hello Dali.
