An American actress, whose first notable television credits came in the 1950s, with Life with Elizabeth (1952-1955) and Date with the Angels (1957-1958). It was in the 1970s when White became a true star, first with The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1973-1977) and then her own The Betty White Show (1977-1978). Two long running comedy hits followed – The Golden Girls (1985-1992) and Hot in Cleveland (2010-2015). Overall, White won six Emmys from 23 nominations and was the recipient of its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015. In 2010, she was presented with BAFTA Los Angeles’ Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy, given in honour of Charlie Chaplin.
