A British costume designer who won both a BAFTA and an Oscar for his work on the big screen Agatha Christie adaptation Death on the Nile (1978). He would be BAFTA nominated again for Tess in 1982, which also earned him another Oscar win, his third Academy Award following an earlier win for Travels with My Aunt (1972). He was nominated for three additional Oscars throughout his prodigious career, for Pirates (1986), Hook (1991) and 102 Dalmatians (2000).
