Games Livestream - Solving an Invisible Problem: Designing for Colour Blindness in Games

Monday, 2 September 2019 - 7:00pm
BAFTA Twitch

Drawing from his own experiences as a colour-blind gamer and developer, Creative Assembly's Douglas Pennant will give a practical talk about how the colour-blind see the world, and how this can make some video games very difficult to play.

Using examples from the development of Creative Assembly's Alien: Isolation and Halo Wars 2, and referencing a number of other titles, this livestream will discuss best practices and solutions that can help make games more accessible to the colour blind.

Douglas Pennant has been in the industry for almost ten years, most recently with Creative Assembly working on Alien: Isolation, Halo Wars 2 and now on the studio’s brand-new unannounced IP. Douglas has deuteranopia, a form of red-green colour-blindness, and is determined to help make more games colour-blind-friendly.
