Born and raised in Mumbai, Yashna is an award-winning screenwriter and alumnus of the UCLA School of Theater Film where she got her MFA. She was recently recognized by Film Independent, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and the Museum of the Moving Image as a finalist for the Sloan Grand Jury Prize. Yashna writes character-driven dramas and dramedies (TV and feature), with the goal of telling authentic stories about South Asians for a global audience. Yashna has worked with/ is currently working with Lionsgate Entertainment, Newform, Jumpcut, Tom Lynch Co. and Tiger Baby Films among others. She currently has multiple projects in development for global streaming platforms.
