THIRD YEAR – LOS ANGELES

Originally from Singapore, Vivian Ip is a filmmaker and recovering lawyer based in Los Angeles. She received her Film and TV Production MFA at USC and Bachelor of Laws LLB at Durham University. Her film ‘An Island Drifts’ received the inaugural grant from ARRI Asia and screened at Urbanworld, SeriesFest, Dances with Films, amongst others. It won Best Drama Film and Best Director at the First Look Awards, and the Jury Award at Cine Gear Expo. She developed her feature ‘Ashes of the Summer Heat’ in the Cine Qua Non Storylines Lab. Additionally, she produced the student Academy Award finalist ‘Headlock’, and co-produced the USC student feature ‘The Phantom’. She recently completed another short ‘At the Water’s Edge’ and is gearing up for her first documentary via the Red Bull x Ghetto Film School launchpad. Vivian’s filmmaking practice is centered on exploring the human condition, by capturing intimate moments and universal truths with a cinematic edge.
