THIRD YEAR – NEW YORK

Stephanie Falkeis is an Austrian director, writer and producer based in New York City. She is currently completing her MFA in Directing at Columbia University on a Fulbright Fellowship. Her work often deals with notions of otherness and belonging, memory, and our relationship to the natural world. Her latest short film 'Elegy for A Glacier' received the Alfred P Sloan Grant, and her historical limited series ‘The Invisible Sister’ received the 'Heroines in Series' commissioning grant and development funding from FISA Austria. She is an alumna of the Telluride Film Festival Symposium and the Innsbruck Film Festival Talent Campus, and was selected for the Cannes/La Fémis Co-Production Atelier. Her work screened internationally in cinemas, galleries and festivals, and she is a published writer in German and English. She co-founded the bilateral Austrian American Short Film Festival, which she produced and curated from 2015-2018. Stephanie is currently preparing her first feature.
