Juan Escutia

FIRST YEAR

Juan Escutia is from North Hollywood, California, and he is a student at California State University Northridge where is studying Psychology.

“I applied to the Vance Byrd Mentorship Program due to the fact that when I was an Intern with BAFTA, my time was extraordinary. The internship gave me a feeling of belonging, and made me respect myself a lot more.”

Juan’s dream career would be to become a therapist. After learning about and dealing with his struggles, Juan hopes to help people learn to navigate their issues. Juan wants to help kids like him in the future so that they don’t have to figure things out on their own.

“It gives me a great deal of joy that I was selected for the program, as I know there could be someone that didn't get into the program due to me being chosen for it. It also makes me grateful that I continue to grow the relationship that I have with BAFTA. I think it's a great organization I feel proud to be a part of.”

A role model in the entertainment industry for Juan would be Christopher Judge, the voice of Kratos from the Gods of War video game series. Juan is inspired by Christopher's talent in voice acting and believes that his work is what helped bring the character of Kratos to life.
