Alexis Ayala

SECOND YEAR

Alexis Ayala is from East Los Angeles and is attending University of California - Riverside where he is majoring in Computer Engineering while working part-time as a Senior Store Manager.

“I applied to the Vance Byrd Mentorship Program because when I was still a Junior in Highschool during the pandemic, BAFTA opened up their doors to me and I was able to intern for them through LAUSD and I was able to follow another of my passions, video editing and also expanded on my communication skills by talking to different celebrities and directors and interview them and get them out of my comfort zone.”

Some of Alexis’ accomplishments include being Valedictorian of his school Hilda L Solis Learning Academy, running the LA Marathon, and receiving a senior management position at work.

It is Alexis’ dream to own his own company where he can build and design computers. This position would allow him to use his skills in sales and communication.

Alexis really admires the work of Joaquin Phoenix because of the range of his work and his commitment to a role.

“For me to be selected for this program is a great honor to be a part of such an amazing network with incredible people that always want to make themselves better and striving for success. It means that I'll be able to have a team I can rely on and work together with, learn from and also look up to and push me to do better at the same time.”
