Based on the true events of the Maze prison hunger strikes of 1981 in Northern Ireland following prisoner and IRA volunteer Bobby Sands. Starring Michael Fassbender.

Before working in film, Steve McQueen was an award-winning visual artist, having won the Turner Prize in 1999. Hunger (2008) then won him the BAFTA. Steve McQueen’s next collaboration with actor Michael Fassbender, Shame (2011) was nominated for the Golden Lion and for the BAFTA for Best British Film, and his most recent feature 12 Years a Slave (2013) won the Oscar for best picture, making him the first black filmmaker to achieve this accolade. 12 Years a Slave also won the BAFTA for Best Film and he was nominated in the Best Director category too.
