Talisha ‘Tee Cee’ Johnson | Presenter, Producer, Filmmaker

(She/Her)

Talisha ‘Tee Cee’ Johnson is not your average girl. At 16, she was a published author. By 19, she had launched her own lifestyle magazine. From the age of 20, she’s forged a successful career in television and digital media as a presenter, writer, director and producer. She is the very definition of a young achiever, with a long list of accolades to her name. Not to mention her development platform, Not Your Average Girl, created to inspire and support young women seeking work in television and the digital space.

Tee Cee’s own first step into television came in 2016 as a runner for BBC Children’s TV Development, where she was quickly promoted to presenter within three months. Since then, she’s worked both in front of the camera and behind as a development producer, but is keen to present, produce and direct more of her own work after the very positive reception to her directorial debut film, the 2022 documentary short Too Autistic for Black for Discovery+. Tee Cee recently won the Diversity Champion award for the documentary at the 2023 Royal Television Society Midlands Awards.

In their own words...

“I do believe everything happens for a reason and when it’s your time it’s your time. It’s taken a lot of patience. Everyone’s journey is different but for me it’s taken a lot of self-encouragement and motivation, to keep going and working on my craft in preparation for when the right opportunity happens... Reggie Yates is someone who’s career trajectory I admire. He’s proven you don’t have to be boxed into one particular genre or style. He’s been able to diversify his portfolio, which I’d like to do... I don’t want to be pigeonholed.”

“Any association with BAFTA holds so much value and weight within the industry. As the first generation from my family to work in film and television, you only really dream about reaching a level where an organisation like BAFTA endorses you. There’s only so much you can do yourself... The networks and associations you have around you can really open doors. It’s all about access.”

Tee Cee is currently putting together a book proposal on autism and is looking to get her second documentary commissioned.
