Kislay | Director/Writer

Based in New Delhi, filmmaker Kislay burst onto the scene with his debut feature Just Like That (Aise Hee, 2019), a film that provides an intimate portrait of an elderly woman’s place in Indian society. It premiered in the Busan International Film Festival’s New Currents competition, where it received special mention, before going on to win awards at various other international film festivals. It also won the Film Critics Circle of India’s Best Debut Feature Film award.

Kislay studied at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, where he was one of 10 students selected for the International Student Film Camp in Serbia. Early on, he was active in Delhi’s theatre community, directing several plays that gave him valuable experience working with actors. He also co-wrote and was assistant director on the crime drama Soni (2018) and was assistant director on The Bizarre Murder of Mr. Tusker (to be released).
