Charu Desodt

Charu Desodt is a games producer who engineered the technology behind the hugely successful SingStar franchise for Sony PlayStation. The first female engineer hired by Sony’s London Studio, Desodt moved up to become a producer on its Wonderbook: Book of Spells. This augmented reality game was developed in conjunction with bestselling author JK Rowling and set in the Harry Potter universe. It was nominated for a BAFTA in Game Innovation in 2013.

Since Breakthrough Brits Charu has been a Juror for the British Academy Games Awards, helping to select the winner in the multiplayer category. She was named in MCV’s Top 100 Women in Games, and is continuing to explore the cross-media potential of games. On her experiences meeting with creatives such as Nina Kristensen (Ninja Theory) andSiobhan Reddy (Media Molecule).
