FOURTH YEAR – LOS ANGELES
Born and raised in Ankara, Turkey, Asligul studied History at Durham University in the UK and Global Media and Communications at the London School of Economics and the University of Southern California. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2017, she has worked in film and television development at Gunpowder & Sky, George Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures, MGM Studios, Working Title Films, and Academy Award-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman’s Weed Road Pictures. Asligul was an Associate Producer on Academy Award-winning director Bryan Fogel’s documentary THE DISSIDENT, which premiered at Sundance 2020. Her first independent short film SPIRAL was a Finalist in the 2020 Women in Film and IMDb Curbside Shorts Film Challenge. Her short film script THE PICKUP was a Quarterfinalist in the 2020 ScreenCraft Horror Competition. Her most recent short film LYSSA aims to destigmatize schizophrenia as part of a trilogy of short films about mental health.
