Beginning her career as a child actor on the television series Grange Hill, director Amma Asante quickly demonstrated her incredible talents as a screen writer and producer with her BBC urban drama series Brothers and Sisters. Her BAFTA for A Way of Life has been followed by the international hit period drama Belle (2014), about race and class in 18th century England and A United Kingdom (2016), the story of King Seretse Khama of Botswana and his loving but controversial marriage to a British white woman in the1940s .
