An actor equally comfortable in both comedy and drama, Kelly was familiar to Scottish audiences for the sitcom City Lights (1986-91). He played Glaswegian gangster Jimmy in Eastenders (1994) contrasting with the outrageously camp Bunny in Extras (2005-07) and a fierce cameo in Ken Loach’s film Ae Fond Kiss.
